Moving Forward

Count me among the many with a great admiration for Pope Francis. His recent Apostolic Exhortation “The Joy of Love” provides plenty of reflections on life in the family. A couple of excerpts include the following: “No family drops down from heaven perfectly formed; families need constantly to grow and mature in the ability to love.”

“I thank God that many families, which are far from considering themselves perfect, live in love, fulfill their calling and keep moving forward, even if they fall many times along the way.”

  1. Tom – thank you for the beautiful picture and the inspiring quote … what a wonderful message to start the day and reflect upon as we count our many, many blessings … our families being at the top of that list. Love, Cathy

  2. Cathy, Thank you for your wonderful feedback. Another quote I was considering was from our Parish Priest Father Tim: “Families provide multiple opportunities for forgiveness.” I decided against that one but I suppose it’s very true. After all you’ve had to forgive your older brother 70 x 7 times! 🙂 Thanks Cathy. Love, Tom

  3. Hi Tom! This is a delightful family photo!! Two years ago, just such a family was crossing the highway in Downers Grove. A very thoughtful man got out of his car and halted traffic – until the family was safely on the other side! Lots of smiles from lots of cars – no one honked to get moving. I love your photos and your quotes are always right on target. We have indeed been blessed with loving families. Thanks for bringing joy to the world, Tom. Lots of love to you and your family – Aunt Peg
